Happy Valentine’s Day. The weekend before Valentine’s Day, Alayna and I made a trip down to Wind Lake to visit my parents. When I was younger, my Nana (grandma) use to throw a “Heart Party” for us grandkids. It would include a meal, treats, presents and fun. So, with Alayna being the first grandchild for my parents my mom wanted to start the same tradition.
We went down to my parents’ house on Sunday afternoon. It was so cute how excited Alayna was to see them. She had a cup of juice in one hand and a stuffed animal in the other and as soon as she walked through the door she dropped both to the floor immediately and ran right into Grandpa’s arms. She is definitely a little Grandpa’s girl. For Valentine’s Day Alayna received a very cute t-shirt to wear to her school Valentine’s Day party, along with a new “big girl” cup and plate set and a little baby doll. Her little doll has become her baby, she takes it in the car every morning now and gives it a kiss and hug bye-bye when we get to school. It is very cute to watch her play with the doll.
I think though that Alayna was most excited for the cookie cake we had as a dessert. She definitely takes after her mommy and has a wicked sweet tooth. It was a fun day and a nice tradition for Alayna to have with her Nana and Grandpa.

Both my kids seem to have a sweet tooth really badly too, which I KNOW they get from me. Yikes. Perhaps we will have to start a heart party around here too. :)
