Christmas in Seattle

This year we spent the Christmas holiday in Seattle with Derek’s family. It was a very busy week of travel starting with our leaving Wisconsin. Because we had booked our travel so far in advance, we weren’t able to change our flights for a reasonable price, so Alayna and I travelled from Wisconsin to Texas first and then flew on our original flight from Texas to Seattle.
We arrived in Seattle on Friday the 23rd and after a very early morning we made the rounds around town to say hello to the family. After that we spent the rest of the evening just relaxing after our long travel day.

Christmas Eve we went over to Derek’s aunt and uncle’s house. It was a very nice time filled with good family time. Derek’s cousins have younger children also so it was nice for Alayna to be able to play with the other kids. We had a delicious dinner and fabulous dessert and after watching the Seahawks football game it was time to call it a night.

Christmas day was very relaxing. We opened presents in the morning and Alayna received some very cute clothes and fun toys. We then spent the rest of the morning and early afternoon relaxing, watching TV and hanging out. Later that day we had an early dinner with family.
We spent the rest of the week enjoying family time and doing some fun things.

Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate for us to go see the Zoo lights, but we drove to Olympia and took Alayna and Sebastian to an indoor inflatable playground. They both had a blast jumping and climbing around and Derek and Sebastian played a round of laser tag.

We also took a trip to Seattle one day to have lunch and hang out with some of Derek’s friends and their children. His best friend Ronnie (our best man from our wedding) and his wife Jenn and their son Landon (Alayna’s future husband, lol) were there along with Derek’s friend Erin and her son Oliver, who is so very adorable also. It was fun to catch up with everyone and meet Oliver and have the kids see one another. Next time though, we definitely have to plan for a longer day and go somewhere the kids can play and run around.

We had a great time in Seattle, it was fun for Alayna to spend time with her cousin Sebastian and get some quality time with her grandparents.
