March 7th, 2010
I woke up on Sunday, March 7th like any other day. Made some breakfast (blueberry muffins, YUM!) and got ready for church. I went to 11am mass. During church I felt a tightening and slighly uncomfortable sensation. Hmm, is this a "real" contraction. Not sure, so I didn't think anything of it. As I was on my way home from church I had another...about an hour apart. Coincidence...maybe, only time will tell.
I got home, made some lunch and watched the rest of the PBA telecast and Derek and I headed on our way out to run some errands. I noticed sometime in there, I had yet another "contraction" though I was still not sure if that is what they were. I kept noticing them and took note of the time each occurrance, an hour apart at this point.
Derek and I got home and parked it on the couch to watch the Oscar pre-shows and I kept noticing this feeling and some were a little more uncomfortable, I was thinking this surely had to be contractions. So, I was mentally keeping note of the time. Still an hour, a long ways off.
Around 6:30 or so I had another contraction and then around 6:45 I had another. Hmm, that's odd, closer together. I mentioned something to Derek about them and he said to keep timing them. They continued the rest of the Oscar telecast at 10-12 min. intervals. Could we be getting closer??? Maybe.
I went to bed a little after 11pm when the Oscars were over. Contractions had subsided and I was able to fall asleep, darn!

Around 2am I was awaken by a strong return to the same feeling. Once it was done, I tried falling back asleep and accomplished that only to be woken up again a few minutes later. Another one, check the clock - 8 min. Wow, okay. Time to fall back asleep, only I couldn't. Contractions kept coming every 8 min. I tried to relax and possible catnap in between them with little luck.
Around 3:30 they started coming every 7 min. I am progressing, this could be it!! I layed there all night, checking the clock, trying to rest and there I sat at 7 min. apart for a good hour. Then...that was 6 min. since the last one. Another minute sooner, wow. At 5 min. I am suppose to go to the hospital. So, still I layed in bed, waiting, counting and getting more and more uncomfortable. At about 5:15am, I decided sleep was not happening anymore and I have been at 6 min. for a good 30-45 min. now. I got out of bed and took a shower hoping to feel a little pain relief. Derek woke up and asked if it was time but I told him to keep sleeping, I would wake him if I thought he needed to get up. So, I headed to the living room, ate some cereal and watched the morning news. Around 6:15am I decided to wake Derek. Contractions have been at 6 min. now for over an hour and sometimes were 4 or 5 min. apart. So, he got out of bed, showered and dressed. We got our bags together and planned on heading to the hospital when the contractions came regularly at 5 min. Unfortunately, that was not to be. As we sat and waited the contractions became irregular. Sometimes they were 4 min., sometimes 7, sometimes, 5, sometimes 10. Oh, how frustrating. So, we decided we would head into work and try to be productive since my body and baby were clearly not working in sync yet.
All day at work contractions have been very irregular anywhere from 4-12 min apart, but definitely stronger...some VERY painful actually.
I have talked to my doctor a few times today and have been told the contractions need to be regular and 5 min. apart for an hour before we make the trip to the hospital. So, I guess I will go home and continue to tough it out and hope Baby Eoff decides to make an appearance in the next 24 hours. I would really like to get some sleep tonight but if this continues with my body, I just don't see that happening.
I am becoming very frustrated. I am VERY uncomfortable, sore from contracting all day long and ready to just get this baby out. Please pray that it happens soon!
