On August 20th, the Alumni Associations of the Big 10 schools all got together and hosted a picnic to kick off the start of the football season. They had snow cones, a bounce house, music and fun. Since my husband’s alma mater is now part of the Big 10 we could not miss the picnic. Derek’s friend Brian (another UNL grad) and his family joined us. We had a nice time, talking to other people from the schools of the Big 10, however I was really disappointed at the turnout. I thought there would be a lot more people there. Only 6 of the 12 schools were represented. Iowa had the biggest contingency with about 15 people, everyone else averaged maybe 10 per school, if that. I was hoping to meet some more WI grads and maybe get some watch parties closer to home (the WI watch party bar is very far from us on the Northeast side of Dallas, almost an hour drive).
Oh well, I will continue to watch the games from the comfort of my living room with my little future cheerleader.

On Wisconsin!
