On March 12th we had Alayna's first birthday party. Both sets of grandparents traveled to Texas to celebrate the special day with us. Alayna was very excited to get to spend some quality time with her grandparents. Though we all live far away from each other, I am glad that she gets these specials times and memories.
We had a party at the house for her birthday and invited over some friends and their families to celebrate with us. Alayna's friends Abby, Colton, Natalie, Geno, Mary, Jillian and Tara all came to party with her. It was a gorgeous day so the kids (and adults) were able to enjoy the sunshine and play in the backyard. Alayna received a Little Tikes swing set and picnic table for her birthday and daddy and the grandpas put them together in the morning, so the kids had fun sliding down the slide, and swinging in the swing.
We grilled out some burgers, brats and hot dogs for lunch. Our growing little girl LOVED her hot dog and at the whole thing along with some grapes and chips. We took a break before cake to open presents and I will say that Alayna is a very lucky little girl. She got some very cute new outfits for the summer, a new swimsuit, toys, books, puzzles and a really neat name sign for her room (Thanks Angie!!).
After presents Alayna got ready to eat some cake. We got her a Winnie the Pooh cake to go along with the Winnie the Pooh birthday party theme. She also got her own personal "smash cake" all to herself. Everyone gathered around to sing "Happy Birthday" and watch Alayna dig into her cake. She definitely smashed it to pieces and enjoyed all the cake and sugary frosting.
Everyone played outside after cake for a little while longer and then it was time to end the party. It was such a great day. I know Alayna will not remember it, but I will remember her first birthday and I am so glad we had family travel in and great friends come over to celebrate with her.
