Alayna is 2 months old!

On May 9th (Mother's Day!) Alayna turned 2 months old. On Monday she had her 2 month check up. She is 10 lbs 4 oz, which is the 25%, 22 inches long which is the 50% and her head size is 25% which means her brain is growing as it should be. At her doctor appt she was checked out and deemed to be perfect, yet again, but we already knew that. She does have cradle cap on her scalp and some excema on her face. So, we are washing her hair more often to get the dry skin to fall off and putting cream on her face to help with the excema. Alayna also got three vaccines yesterday. One was an oral liquid and two shots. God, I really hate having to watch her get poked like that. It breaks my heart. These vaccines were for Diptheria/Tetanus/Pertussis, Polio and Haemphilus Influenza B. She did handle them like a champ and was fine the rest of the day, just maybe a little more tired than normal.
Alayna's growth and development is also right on track. She is able to hold her head up when on her tummy for a longer time and she can sit in your lap and hold it still for a few seconds. She is starting to put a little weight on her legs if you hold her in a standing position. Alayna has also started cooing and smiling. The cooing she is doing a lot. She is going to be a talkative on I think. The smiling is starting to develop more in the past few weeks.

The past month seems to have flown by. We have had many visitors and have gone on some adventures. In April, my sister Trenni and my three friends from WI, Trish, Alexis and Sarah came to visit. We had a great time, venturing up to Grapevine to walk around and eat some lunch, going out for dinner and just relaxing and catching up together. It was so nice to have them here and for all of them to meet Alayna. Auntie Trenni was a natural, changing diapers, feeding Alayna and doting on her. Trish got some practice for her baby girl that is arriving in late summer and we either convinced or scared away Alexis and Sarah from having kids. Jury is still out I guess.

The following weekend my brother Bryon came to visit. Alayna was a little fussy for Uncle Bryon when he first tried to hold her but she warmed up to him by the end of the trip. We took Bryon to tour the Cowby Stadium and eat some southern BBQ.

Alayna had her first visit the bowling center. A few Thursdays ago we went up to watch Derek bowl league. She was a little fussy and cried for awhile but quickly calmed down. Thankfully, there was a lot of noise from the league bowling because Alayna has a great set of lungs on her. Alayna has also made a few trips to the softball fields to watch Derek play softball. The first time she went she slept and ate pretty much the entire time. The second and third times she was more awake and checking the place out.

This past weekend we also made the trip out to Cityview lanes to watch some of the US Women's Open tournament. Alayna got to meet a lot of mommy and daddy's friends from around the country and they all commented on how cute she was and how much hair she had. That is definitely the number one comment we receive wherever we are...she has so much hair.

Last week I went back to work and Alayna started Daycare. She goes to a place that is right down the road from our house, which is great. The teacher are all so nice and they love her. She has gotten rave reviews about being such a happy baby and a good napper and good eater. We really like the place we picked out and it has made being away from her during the day just a bit easier. Daycare also seems to be good for Alayna's sleeping habits. Since starting she is consistently sleeping for at least 5 hours at a time now at night and only getting up twice. Going back to work has been an easier transition than I thought. I feel like I never left, just sliding back into my job and getting caught up on everything. I miss Alayna a lot and find myself just staring at her picture on my desk a lot. I really wish I could find something that would allow me to be home with her more often, but I am glad to have my job right now.

Here are some pictures from Alayna's second month of life.
