3 months old already!

My how time is flying these days. I can't believe Alayna is already 3 months old. I feel like just yesterday we were home from the hospital looking at each other with fear in our eyes. haha
Alayna continues to grow more and more each day. We don't have a doctor visit this month so I can't provide her official stats. But, she has graduated out of newborn diapers into size 1. She is still in 0-3 month clothing but has worn a few 3-6 month things. She has the length for the bigger sizes, but can't fill them out, so they hang on her quite a bit. She is a little peanut that is for sure. She is still not the greatest eater, but she is getting so much better. She will take her 4oz bottle in full more often than not these days. She is also doing great in daycare. The teachers there all love her and say she is a good baby. It is still hard to drop her off every day, but seeing her at night when we get her is so much fun.
Alayna is reaching all of her "milestones." She is smiling more and more each day. We have tried numerous times to get a picture of the cute grin but she seems to be camera shy. Every time I pull the camera out she decides she wants to just stare at it in wonder and awe. She is also a very "talkative" baby. She is contstantly cooing and telling us all about her day at daycare or what she wants for dinner that night. She loves to stand on our lap (she has very strong legs) and talk to us. She is also getting a lot of floor time. For a few days there we thought she was going to start rolling over. She would get almost all the way over and get stuck on her arm, stopping her. But, she hasn't done that recently. She just likes to play on the floor on her gym mat and kick her little legs. She is starting to tolerate tummy time a bit better these days also. She can last a few more minutes without having a fit and can lift her head to almost 90 degrees up. She also is kicking her legs a ton to look like she is ready to crawl. When she does...oh boy, we are in trouble. She hates to sit still so she will be all over the place. I think we need to start baby proofing now!
I feel like this month was very busy but yet can't remember all that we did. Here are some of the highlights though.
My aunt Cyndi, uncle Al and cousin Brekahn came to visit in the middle of May. There were here only a short time, but we had a lot of fun. Alayna had her first trip to the rodeo and the zoo that weekend. Though she slept through most of both. On my birthday Derek bowled in the state tournament and I committed to volunteer for JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) and their new Strike Out Diabetes event. My friend Lynda Barnes spearheaded this event in honor of her son Troy, who 2years a go at age 6, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. Since both Derek and I were busy that day, Alayna was baby-sat by our friend Cindy Wunderlich. Cindy is awesome with kids so we knew she would be in good hands for the day. Though Alayna wasn't the most pleasant baby that day, Cindy loved having her. She got lots of exercise taking Alayna for walks. She did have to do the magic vacuum trick though. (I am meaning to write a post about that soon). That night Derek picked her up from Cindy's house and they met me at Lynda's house for a post-event celebration. Lynda was also very kind to get me a birthday cake and a sash to wear being the Birthday Princess. Alayna was great at the party and slept the entire ride home.
Alayna continues to enjoy going to watch Derek play softball, as long as the game is early. Though, it has been quite hot lately so some games we have to watch from inside the air conditioned restaurant area.
The last weekend of May, Derek suprised me with a night out for our anniversary. He organized everything from where we were going to lining up a baby-sitter (I have an awesome husband!). We dropped Alayna off at Tennelle and Jason Milligan's house. They are good friend's of ours and their daughter Abby is 10 months old and goes to the same daycare as Alayna does. Derek took me out to dinner in downtown Dallas and then it was on to the Fair Park grounds to see Wicked! I have been wanting to see this production forever so I was very excited and it did not disappoint. I am actually going again next week with some girlfriends. We got back to the Milligan's house after 11pm to find Alayna swaddled and asleep in the swing. I was shocked to see her swaddled since whenever Derek or I have tried to do it she has screamed and wants her arms free. But, Jason being the baby whisperer that he is, swaddled her up to calm her down and get a very over-tired baby to sleep.
On Memorial Day we spent the early afternoon at Lynn Creek Park with a couple other families from work. It was a nice morning and we got a great spot by the lake. A tent was set up for shade and there was plenty of good food to eat. We took Alayna in the lake for a few minutes but since she can't wear sunscreen yet, we mostly stayed in the shade under the tent. She did look mighty cute in her swimsuit and matching hat. As the afternoon wore on, it got quite hot and crowded at the park. So, we pakced it up and headed home for a much needed nap (for all three of us!). Later that night we went over to the Kanak's house (Gene and Angie are friend's of ours) to go swimming in their neighborhood pool. Our subdivision unfortunately, doesn't have a pool so they were nice enough to invite us over to go swimming with them in theirs.
I think I hit all the high points of the last month. Here are some pictures from the past month.
