There are 53 days left until Baby Eoff's due date. I am just over 32 weeks pregnant. It feels at times that time is flying by and other times it is crawling. Right now I want a little of both, I am ready to be done being pregnant but not quite ready for Baby to arrive so the next two months need to be spent preparing as much as possible.
I had my 32 week check up yesterday. All is going well. Weight gain was 5 lbs this month, which brings my total gain to about 35 lbs. With not quite two months left, I will be over the 25-35 lb gain recommended but seriously, I don't know how people do that. So, I am just giving up on watching the scale and trying to eat healthy, walk a lot and take care of myself. The doctor said all seems to be going great, Baby's heartbeat is nice and strong, between 140-150 bpm and he/she is head down. My blood pressure was great and my lab tests from my gestational diabetes test came back great. She did say I was slightly anemic but to try to just get some more iron in my diet and I will be fine. My next appointment will be in 2 weeks!!
How am I feeling in general...well...lets just say I am the sterotypical pregnant lady. I am feeling pretty large these days and my body is so out of whack from the weight gain and shift in balance and all that. It is hard to get up and down from the couch or chairs and in and out of bed. Sleeping is going okay. I have good nights but then I have bad nights. I am only comfortable for a few hours in one position and then I wake up to heave my body over to the other side. Not fun. Baby Eoff has also decided that a good place to hang out is under my rib cage. So, a lot of days are uncomfortable because I spend them trying to push him/her down and out of my ribs. I can't sit at my desk longer than an hour without getting up to take a walk. With this constant pushing it is also putting pressure on my gall bladder which is making my back ribs ache. Oh the joys! But, I am hanging in there. I really can't/shouldn't complain too much. I have had a relatively easy and good pregnancy. I am just impatient and uncomfortable so I have to whine just a little every now and then. :-)
Derek and I did decide on a day care center also. We are going to be going to The Children's Academy right down the street from us. The center is great and the teachers are all very nice. They have a wonderful staff and cirriculum. We are heading over today to turn in our paperwork and pay our deposit to save our spot for sometime in May, depending on when Baby comes. I plan/hope to take about 8 weeks of leave. Here at USBC we get 6 weeks for a healthy delivery, 8 for a C-section (on short term disability pay). Anything beyond that is unpaid.
So, now what has been going on with the Eoff's between week 28-32. Well, as posted in another blog we spent Christmas in Seattle with Derek's family and had a great shower there. New Year's Eve was pretty low key. We went over to Shannon and Bryan O'Keefe's house and they had some people over to ring in the new year. A little Wii was played, food was a plenty and Bryan was slinging drinks...for those that could have alcoholic beverages. We had off on Friday the 1st and Monday the 4th, so Derek and I pretty much spent the rest of the weekend watching college football bowl games non-stop.
The second weekend of January, my sister came for a visit. Unfortunately, for her she came the only weekend we had winter this year. It was quite cold for us with the temps in the teens and a windchill causing single digits. I know this isn't much to my Wisconsin friends and really to me, but you would think the world was ending d0wn here. People freaked, it was actually kind of funny. I took the day off on Friday and Tren and I went shopping to Sam Moon accessories outlet and bought some purses. We then headed to the JFK museum and to lunch in downtown Dallas. Derek's softball games were canceled for Friday night due to the cold temps so the three of us went to see Avatar in 3D. I was not really into seeing it, but I am glad that I did. I thought the effects were amazing and the story (though somewhat predictable) was good. On Saturday we took Trenni for some true Mexican food and to the Ft. Worth Stockyards to see the rodeo. We were joined by our friends Tennelle and Jason. This was quite comical since it was Trenni, Tennelle and Jason's first time at the Ft. Worth rodeo. I think we all channeled our "inner hick" that night for a bit. After the rodeo we went to Billy Bob's the World's Largest Honkey Tonk to do some people watching and take a look around. It was the night of the B's...Bumpits, bedazzled clothes and boots. Trenni went home Sunday morning. Though her trip was short, it was great having her here and I am excited for her return trip in the spring after Baby Eoff is born.
This past weekend Derek bowled in a few local tournaments so we spent the weekend in Euless at the bowling center. Saturday was not as great as hoped but his team did well on Sunday to make up for it.
That is everything (I think). I will keep you all updated after my 34 week appt.
