Christmas in Seattle and Shower #2

Christmas 2009 was spent in Bremerton, WA at my in-laws house. It was great to be able to get out there again since we haven't been since July of 2008. Our nephew, Sebastian spends every other Christmas with his dad in New Mexico so we try to coincide our holiday trips to when he will be home so we can see him. 4 days went by way to fast.
We arrived in Seattle on Christmas Eve day and were picked up from the airport by Derek's mom, sister and Sebastian. We then made the drive back to Bremerton (about 45 min.). That night Derek's aunt and uncle, cousin, his wife and their kids came over for Christmas Eve dinner. Dinner did not disappoint, we had steak and lobster tails, veggies, potatoes, salad. It was all delicious! We spent the time catching up, laughing, eating and hanging out. It was a great night, well except when Sebastian was accidentally head-butted by his 3 year-old cousin Madison that gave him quite the nice Christmas shiner.
Christmas morning we tried to sleep in but with the time change and my ever growing uncomfortableness, we were up by 8am. We actually had to wait for Seb to wake up (what 9 year old sleeps in on Christmas morning??? haha). He was up not too much later and we opened presents. Derek and I got a web cam to keep in touch with the family, especially after Baby Eoff is born. We also got some gift cards, candy in our stockings and many other great gifts. We then had breakfast and Derek and I headed out to church. We ventured out to one of the few Catholic churches in the area for Christmas mass, which it turned out to be the church his parents got married in. I thought that was cool. He then took me past his grandparents old house in East Bremerton and we journeyed back to his parents house. We spent much of the day relaxing, playing with Sebastian's new toys and watching football. In the afternoon Derek's aunt (his mom's sister), her husband and Derek's cousins came over for Christmas dinner. This dinner was equally delicious. We had turkey with all the trimmings, it was awesome!
Christmas night Derek and I went to see our friends Ronnie and Jenn. Ronnie is Derek's oldest friend and the Best Man from our wedding. His parents live not too far from Derek's parents house (even though Ronnie and Jenn now live in northern IL). So, it worked out great that we were able to see them this holiday season. We spent the night catching up, laughing and hanging out with them and Ronnie's parents. It was so nice to see them and a little bittersweet, since they just moved to IL a few months after Derek and I moved to TX. It would have been great to all live near each other and see each other more often, oh well, that's life.
On Saturday Derek got up and braved the cold with his dad to go golf at a very nice course in Tacoma, WA. The course is one of the best in the country and some major tournament is going to be held there in 2011 (I think...). So, with winter rates so low they couldn't pass up the chance to play. Of course they had to wait to tee off due to the frost and fog and it was maybe a high of 40 that day, but hey you golf when you can. Me...I sat and watched football all day, took a nap and just relaxed. Saturday night we met the guys in Tacoma for pizza and then headed to the Port Difance zoo for the Zoo Lights. The zoo is decorated in holiday light displays, it was very neat.
Sunday was the day of our baby shower. His mom and Shauna (Derek's sister) spent the day running errands, making food and getting ready. Around 1pm guests came over. It was great to see all the family and friends that made it to the party since Derek and I haven't seen them since our post-wedding party in July of 2008. We got many neat and useful things for Baby Eoff, onesies, blankets and books. We played some games (which all but one person at the party is guessing we are having a boy) and ate some awesome cake. The cake was so cute, but it tasted even better. I am such a sugar frosting freak and this cake did not disappoint, it had TONS. Sunday night was spent relaxing and feeling totally full from all the sugar and food I ate all day (my doctor will love me!).
By Monday morning we were headed back to the airport and back to TX. The trip was great, relaxing and fun but as always too short.
