16 weeks...4 Months!!!

Wow, how quickly the weeks have passed since my last check up. I had my 16 week check up with my doctor yesterday. Everything is going perfectly fine. I have gained another 3 lbs, which brings my grand total to 4 lbs. Right now she said this is fine, but a little on the low end. She would like to see 20 lbs gained, 10 of that in the first 5 months, so I guess I am going on an ice cream binge in the next month. :-) But, really all is fine. It shocks me really b/c usually I have ZERO problem packing on the pounds so with not working out as vigorously and my appetite back I am surprised that the weight gain has been more. But, really, do I care...no. ha ha
The baby is currently 3-5 oz. in weight and about 4-5 inches in length. It's eyes are starting to see light and movement, even though the lids are still sealed shut. He/she is progressing very nicely with a strong heartbeat (that still never gets old). I am feeling so much better these days. No more sickness whatsoever and my energy is finally starting to return. I can finally stay up past 9pm again and have way more energy during the day. Our sonnogram is going to be scheduled for 2 weeks from now. The doc. offices are suppose to call me today or tomorrow to schedule that. It will be very exciting to see the baby growing and waving at me. We, well I actually, have decided that we are NOT going to find out the sex of the baby. We are taking the traditional, surprise route. I know Derek wants to find out, but he said that if I didn't it was ultimately my choice (smart husband) so we are going to wait and see. I am very excited for that but also now very impatient for the 24 weeks to come and go so I can meet our little daugther or son. My next regular check up will be in 20 weeks at the end of October. I haven't felt any movement yet but the doctor said that I should start to feel things before my next appt. However, I am not really sure what I am suppose to be feeling so any hints would be helpful. :-)
As I am growing my clothes are starting to not fit and people are starting to comment on my tummy. This is both awesome and so not cool. It is great to see my tummy grow knowing what is inside, but the comments from people sometimes I just wonder who taught them manners if anyone. I have been wearing my Bella Band from my friend Tennelle. This is an awesome invention that helps for this transition period. It is really just a spandex band to wear around your waist so you can wear your pants unbutonned without anyone knowing b/c it looks like a cami or t-shirt underneath your regular shirt. Maternity clothes are still a few weeks to month away so this has been great.
I did get my first pregnancy workout video the other day. I ordered it from Amazon based on a lot of the reviews it got. It is great, a cross between yoga and strength training. Offers relaxation but also a great workout that I feel like my body is still working. I am still walking/running also.
My allergies have still been a mess this fall and will continue to be till God only knows when b/c I am not sure if/when things die here. I haven't taken anything for them. The doctor said I could in my second trimester take claritin or sudafed, but I would rather err on the side of caution and just suck it up. I have been using a neti pot to rinse out my sinuses and this seems to help at least a little bit.
I also think the baby is learning quickly that it better like football. Now that the season has started we have been parked on the couch from 9am-11pm watching games all day. I am sure I sent him/her into somersaults a few weeks ago with all my screaming at the Badgers vs. Fresno. Rough game, but it was a "W" and we are 4-0. I have gotten every Badger game on TV here so far so it has been great being able to watch them. They look pretty good this year.
The baby is already on its way to being spoiled. :-) Nana and Grandpa (my parents) have already sent two care packeages with sleepers, toys, towels, wash clothes and this adorable hooded lizard towel. I have bought his/her first Wisconsin onesie and of course, not to be one uped, Derek bought a Nebraska onesie and a Washington onesie (he is from Seattle and that was his team growing up). We are also VERY lucky that my Auntie Danielle in CA has offered to ship us my cousin's old crib. It is a beautiful crib and was hardly used since Jade didn't like sleeping in it. I can't wait for it to arrive so we can go and find matching furniture for the nursery.
Other than that I am still playing softball. This will be my last session though, if we ever get to finish. We have been rained out for weeks. We have about three weeks left but were cancelled again last night (not for weather this time) so who knows when we will finish. If we don't finish by the end of October I doubt I will be able to finish the season, it is getting harder to play these days and with how competitive I am, I hate that I can't really get down and dirty. Bowling league has also started. Our work league is on Tuesdays and I am subbing every now and then in a Wednesday woman's league. I am hoping to get through December bowling, as long as my back holds up.
We also went to the Texas State Fair this past weekend. It was pretty cool, though your typical state fair. Lots of games/rides, food, people selling stuff you don't need. We did ride the Texas Star which is a huge ferris wheel, it was pretty high. YOu would think after being a cheerleader heights wouldn't bother me since I was tossed around in the air. I guess I am getting chicken in my old age b/c I was a little nervous up there.
Well that is my four week update. I know it is a lot. I guess I should write more often than once a month. I will try as things progress.
