I had my 12 week check-up on Tuesday. Not too much to report just yet. They weighed me. I gained a whole pound. I was actually surprised by this because things are feeling tighter and I FEEL like I have gained a ton, but scales don't lie and I won't argue. :-) They also checked my blood pressure (great!) and listened the baby's heartbeat. I don't think this will ever get old. It is just so neat to hear the whoosh whoosh of the baby's heartbeat, nice and strong. It was a pretty quick visit but I still love going. It is nice to get reassurance that all is well and moving along just fine. She did say the baby is sitting quite low and my uterus is still pretty low, but this is no cause for concern so I got the healthy stamp. Next appointment will be on September 28th for the 16 week check up and I will then get the general flu shot. Swine flu shot will come in October when it is made available.
The check up was great, but I will say the past two weeks have been an adventure (in the nicest description possible). My hormones are suddenly raging. I am fine one minute and then crying the next. Outrageous. My appetite has also been not the best lately. I will make dinner and then suddenly look at it and not want to eat a bite. Cereal has been my friend lately. I had quite the breakdown over this the other day. Made one of my favorite meals to only be totally disgusted by it by the time I finished. It was all very frustrating and disheartening. Thankfully I have a wonderful, patient husband who lets me go on and then comes in to comfort me when I'm ready. I have also been told this is completely normal, thank God and can now laugh at myself after the fact.
My allergies have also decided to make a roaring appearance. It started out harmless enough with some sneezing and itchy nose and then just escalated from there. I made it 12.5 weeks before throwing up for the first time and then this week with all the drainage and coughing I just couldn't hold it. Oh well, once in an entire pregnancy isn't all that bad. So, because I can't really take anything for my allergies/cold (that is now turned into) sleep is a chore I am planning on buying stock in kleenex. I am constantly blowing my nose, coughing up a storm and sneezing. I have recently started using a Neti Pot which has helped a bit. But, the dry cough that has come has been unpleasant. Since I can't take any cough medicine or cough drops I am sucking on mints constantly. I am sure my sugar intake for the day is way over my limit.
Oh well, I am sure all my coughing and sneezing is causing the baby to do flips in there, but that is okay, just preparing them for their gymnastics career. haha
I will tough it out, whine a bit because I can and in the end I won't remember a thing.

Oh yes, you sound perfect normal and pregnant. I would do that ALL the time... make food and then decide I didn't want it, or that I felt sick by the time I was done eating. For me that stopped around 13 weeks, but everyone is different. Hang in there. The heartbeat is awesome but FEELING the little baby is even better and you are not too far away frmo that!! Keep the posts coming, I am loving hearing about your adventure!!!
Bre - this is a great way to share your journey to parenthood! It will be great for you to look back on as well once the little one arrives... pregnancy really goes by fast, so try to enjoy it as much as you can! Keep writing!
