Only 4 more days to go until I leave Wisconsin to live in warmer climates. I am still not sure I believe it is really happening. I feel like I am going away for a long vacation but I will be back. Nothing has seemed final yet.
We had our going away party on Saturday night. It was a very good time. We had friends from all parts of our lives, work, sports teams, family, old and new friends all came out to wish us well. It meant so much to me to have all these people there to say good bye and good luck. We are very lucky to have friends that no matter what will be there for us.
The good byes are almost done. Only a few other friends have tried to make plans with us before we leave and then we are off. I don't think I ever really thought I would leave Wisconsin. Once I got the job here in Milwaukee and met Derek here I figured this was it. I had always envisioned myself living somewhere new, but wasn't going to leave without a good reason. Now, the reason has come and we are off for warmer weather (which I am looking forward to).
As the days count down and the minutes pass by maybe it will finally sink in that I am leaving, for good. But, no matter what Wisconsin will always be home to me.
