The swim was a 300 meter pool swim. I must say I really like the pool swim compared to the lake swim I did last year. Though, there are still things I need to figure out. I swam a little slower than I had hoped but I didn't anticipate the log jam a pool creates when multiple people are swimming in a lane both ways. It was tough to navigate at times and it was hard to get into a nice rhythm. But, now I know and can improve on some things for the next one.
The bike ride was 12.4 miles. I am so thankful I got a road bike. The bike ride was SO much easier this time around. I need to get more comfortable on my bike since I have been only riding it a little over a month, but it went well. Still need to figure out which gears I should be in at which times to get optimal speed.
The run sucked, as it always does. I really, really, really hate running. I know I need to work on getting faster, but since I hate running so much it is hard for me to want to train to get faster. I still did better in the run than I thought I would, even though I was slow, but that is a plus I guess.
I finished in 1:52:38 which was great. I wanted to finish in under 2 hours and I am glad I accomplished that. I was so happy to see Derek and Alayna as I was coming around the bend to the finish line. It was great to have the amazing support behind me and made it seem all worthwhile. I am going to spend the winter trying to be a better runner (ugh), but it will prepare me for the next triathlon. I am looking to do another one in either March or April.
Here are some pictures
