The weekend of September 17th Derek and Alayna took a trip to Seattle to visit Derek's family. Nebraska was playing Washington and since Derek wanted to go to see the game he took Alayna along to spend some time with his family and for friends and family to finally meet her.
They left on Friday night and had a LONG trip to Seattle (over 8 hours of traveling). From Dallas they flew to Tulsa but did not have de-plane. From Tulsa they headed to Phoenix. They had a two hour layover in Phoenix, which probably was a good thing since Derek had a chance to change Alayna into her pajamas, walk her around a bit and play to get her tired out for the last leg of the flight. From Phoenix they had a 3.5 hour flight to Seattle, thankfully it was past Alayna's bed time and she slept pretty much the entire flight. Also, since it wasn't a full flight Southwest allowed Derek to bring the car seat on the plane so he could strap Alayna in and let her sleep the entire time. All in all, she did very well on the flights. She got kind of antsy on the earlier flights and gagged herself with a toy once, which resulted in some puke on Derek's jeans, but other than that it was a total success.
On Saturday Derek and his dad went to the football game and Alayna stayed at his parents house with Derek's mom, sister and nephew. They had some friends over with babies to have a baby playdate.
On Sunday, Derek and his dad went golfing in the morning and in the afternoon friends and family came over for a cookout. Alayna was a hit, being passed around and meeting everyone and being a very good girl.
On Monday they went to visit Shauna's work and then Derek took his nephew Sebastian shopping for his birthday present. Sebastian's birthday was at the end of August and since Derek was going to visit, he thought it would be fun to take him to pick out a present of his own instead of sending a check or gift card.
Derek and Alayna flew home on Tuesday and again Alayna was a great little flier. She really should have her own frequent flier card already. Not even a year old and she has flown 3 times already and will fly 2 more times before her first birthday.
