Meeting the family

This past weekend we traveled up to Wisconsin. My cousin Tyler graudated from high school and his party was on Saturday, so my parents asked us to come visit. We were very excited to go so Alayna could meet all of her family members on my side. I also made plans with some of our friends from WI so they could meet Alayna and we could catch up with them since it has been awhile since we have seen everyone.
Alayna did great on the plane ride. We were delayed two hours so waiting for the plane to arrive in DFW was a little tiring. We were on a later flight to begin with so it was nearing and then passing bedtime. So, Alayna was overtired, but just couldn't fall asleep in our arms or her car seat. When the plane did arrive and we boarded we got a bottle out and a few minutes into the flight she was out cold. Slept the entire plane ride.

Saturday morning a few of my college friends and my closest friend from high school came over and brought their little ones along. It was a house full of babies! It was so fun to watch the kids playing (well the older ones) and the younger ones just hanging on the floor with each other. It will be fun to go back when they are all a little older knowing Alayna will always have playmates in WI. Alayna also got the chance to meet her Godfather. Our friends Ronnie and Jenn came up from Illinois. Ronnie was the best man in our wedding and has agreed to be Alayna's Godfather. Jenn is pregnant right now with their first child, so we are excited that the next time we see them Alayna will have a new little playmate! Alayna was also the belle of the ball at the graduation party. She met her Great Grandpa (my Baba) for the first time. She also met a lot of cousins and friends. Everyone loved up on her a ton and thought she was just such a beautiful little girl. Alayna was a trooper that day, especially since she didn't sleep well the night before and only had a few cat naps here and there all day. However, she didn't really get cranky till much later that night when we were home and trying to go to sleep for the night. I don't know if it was being overtired, meeting so many new people, sleeping in a different bed or the temperature of the room but Alayna slept terribly at my parents house. It was probably a combo of all of that. She was up every few hours at least 3 times a night which she hasn't done in months. She was not a happy camper at all. Thankfully on Sunday she took a 3 hour nap before the rest of my family came over to visit.

On Sunday Alayna met Great Grandma, Great Aunt Mary, Great Aunt Denise and her second cousin Brody. She was in a great mood once she fully woke up from her nap and everyone got to hold her and love her. She also met our really great friends Joe and Jenny and their daughter Caedence. Again Alayna was great on the plane ride home. She had a bit of a meltdown while we were waiting for the flight but only because I couldn't get her bottle ready fast enough. When she is hungry she lets you know...immediately.

It was such a fun filled, packed weekend. It was way too short though. Having Alayna around all of my family and all of our friends just makes me more homesick and wishing we could move back there so she could grow up with all that love and support around her daily. We are very lucky that friends and family have come to visit us, but it just isn't the same. Hopefully someday we can go home.

Here are some great pictures from the weekend. There are more on my facebook page.
