Derek and I flew to WI on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. It was cold and raining when we arrived, but it's WI in November so that didn't really surprise me all that much. My dad picked
us up from the airport and we headed to my parents house. We were greeted at the door by my parent's Collie Jake and my mom, who was amazed at the size of my belly...I mean I am 6 months pregnant. We sat down to eat dinner and catch up. The rain turned to snow, which thrilled me since I hadn't seen snow since Christmas of last year.

I watched the Macy's parade as I do every Thanksgiving Day, however, it is getting to be more and more of a 3 hour commercial for Broadway shows and NBC TV shows. I was disappointed that they didn't show more floats or bands. Commercialism at its best. I missed the end of the parade due to the Packer game starting so I never did get to see Santa. :-( We watched the Packer game...or at least tried to, but it wasn't a ton of fun when my brother and dad complained from the get-go that the Packers sucked, they were going to lose and Stafford is a better quarterback than Rodgers. Now I remember why I like to watch games alone. Later in the afternoon my extended family started to arrive at my parents house. My aunt, uncle, cousins and Grandma from my dad's side along with my aunt, uncle, cousins and Baba (grandpa) from my mom's side. All in all about 20 people. My cousins also brought their new puppy Harvey, who isn't all that small and so that made it 20 people and 2 dogs, not the most enjoyable to sit and relax with each other but entertaining none the less. Thanksgiving as always was fabulous. All the turkey with trimmings and you can't forget the desserts. My family is famous for having at LEAST three dessert options at each family get together and this was more of the same. We had two kinds of pie, Pumpkin Spice bars, a cookie cake and a dirt cake (vanilla pudding, oreos, with other yummy bad for you stuff mixed in). I had a little of each of course.
Once everyone left we just spent the rest of the evening trying to digest our food and watch more football.
Friday brought our annual Black Friday shopping excursion. My mom and I met my aunt and cousins out for a day of shopping. I am honestly shocked to hear that sales were down because I haven't seen the malls that packed in years. There were some GREAT deals to be had and the shoppers knew it. After shopping we went home to unwind and relax before going to see The Blind Side with my parents. If you haven't seen it yet...go see it. Amazing true story that will inspire you this holiday season.
Saturday was shower day. My mom, sister, Trish, Julia and Kristi hosted a wonderful shower for me at my aunts house. A ton of my family and friends were able to make it out over the holiday
weekend which made me feel so grateful and thankful for such wonderful and caring people in my life. We had delicous food and played cute games. Trish had this great idea since we were traveling to off-set the amount of gifts people got us to instead everyone bring a book for the baby's library. We received a bunch of wonderful books that I cannot wait to start reading to the little one. However, that didn't stop everyone from still spoiling this little bundle. He/she is very lucky to have such wonderful people that care so much already. We got lots of outfits, toys, things for the nursery and the house for him/her. It was wonderful. It was so wonderful seeing everyone and getting to spend some time with my family and friends but as always it just goes by too fast. Before I knew it people were heading out and I was sad to see them all go knowing it will be
awhile before I see them again. But, I want to thank my mom, sister and friends again for the wonderful shower. It was absolutely perfect and I loved every minute.

We got up and went to church and then I fell asleep on the couch for hours. We flew out at 7pm that night and that was the end of our trip. As cold as it was...and still will get, I still miss WI each and every day. Mostly, I miss my family and friends and I can't wait for our next trip back. I also look forward to everyone coming to visit in the next 4-5 months.
