Kugeestock

This past weekend, if you know, was the 40th anniversary of Woodstock, the greatest music event EVER. However, this year it was the first...and only, Kugeestock. The annual Kusnierek tailgate party had a Woodstock theme this year and boy was it done right. My parents sure know how to throw a party.

Saturday morning we were put to work loading the refrigerated truck, the huge trailer and various beds of trucks with all the supplies needed for the day. I don't know exact counts but there were around 5 barrels of beer, a bajillion cases of beer, even more cases of soda and water and about 15 crates of hard alcohol. Oh, and there were a ton of 6 foot subs, trays of brownies, bags of chips, ice, generators, tables, chairs and of course our hippie outfits. My dad has some awesome neighbors and friends that volunteered their time to help out (and his wonderful children also). :-) We got everything loaded up and then he, my mom and some others headed down to Miller Park to set up the tailgate area. Derek and I stayed behind to greet the Peaceful Followers and lead them to the promise land (aka Miller Park).

We got into the parking lot around 3pm and the food was out, the beer was cold and the band, Flashback, was on stage and rockin' out. Flashback is a 60's, 70's, 80's tribute band that entertained the hippies all afternoon before the game. If they are ever at a festival near you I HIGHLY recommend them, they were tons of fun. Doobie Dave and Cherry Blossom (my parents) made sure everyone had a blast, refilling the Janice Juice (whop drink), making sure there was always fresh food out and posing for pictures like the celebrities they are.

The 450 people that made the trek to Kugeestock had a blast...only a few over-served in the crowd this year. We rocked out to the music of the genre, ate and drank till our hearts were content and of course, saw a Brewers victory.

It was a short trip back to Wisconsin, but it was well worth it. Next year the theme that won the vote is a Margarittaville theme (think Jimmy Buffet). So, get out those leis, grass skirst and coconut bras for Kugeerittaville. It will be a blast.
