On Sunday, May 31st Derek and I celebrated our one year anniversary. I cannot believe it has been a year already. So much has happened in the past year, so many changes and new beginnings. Time not only flies when you are having fun but also when you are in love. It is like the Brad Paisley song "I thought I loved you then" I thought I loved Derek the day of our wedding (which of course I did) but I KNOW I love him more today.
We celebrated our first anniversary with a great weekend. On Saturday we played a round of golf with our good friends Jason and Tennelle Milligan. It was a hot May day in Texas (temps in the 90's) but we had a great time together. Saturday night we had a nice romantic dinner at the Silver Fox, which is a great steak and seafood place in the DFW area. We went to the Fort Worth location, and being the weekend of the PGA tour stop, saw a few famous golfers having dinner, which was very cool. On Sunday, Derek had a surprise for me. All he told me is dress comfortable, wear tennis shoes and sunscreen. Hmmm, this could be trouble. It was definitely not! We drove about 45 min southwest of home to Benbrook, TX to go horseback riding. It was a very cool trail ride that crossed a stream and on the way back in we actually rode the horses down the stream for a while. I think they did this not only for the cool factor for the riders but to cool off those poor horses. The rest of the day was spent doing some shopping and definitely relaxing.
It has been an exciting and tough year with all the moving and changes going on, but having Derek by my side through it all has been a blessing. He is my best friend and my soulmate. I can't wait to spend the rest of our lives together.
