Tomorrow marks the wonderful or cursed day of the Valentine...depending on your status or sometimes gender.
I know that Valentine's Day really has its origin in a religious sentiment, similar to Christmas, but like most holidays these days, has fallen to the commercialism that is common in our country. I hate the commercialism as much as the next gal, but what I do like about this day is that it is the one day in the whole year that you can show the one you love just how much they mean to you. I know boys, I hear you..."I don't need a day telling me I should give my wife flowers or candy or something else nice and shiney that she would enjoy." I hear you, but do you show your wife, girlfriend, mother, friend on other days that you do care? Do you take time out of the week to spontaneously tell her (or him...females are not getting off the hook) that you love her, or bring her flowers or a card for no other reason than you thought about her today? Do you??? I didn't think so.
Enter Valentine's Day. It is the one day, hallmark inspired or not, to show that person how much you care. Guys...we aren't looking for much I SWEAR to you, but it would be nice to get some flowers or a surprise card or breakfast in bed, just to show that one you love, "Hey you matter to me and I love you"
So, it is really is as simple as that. So, tomorrow, take the time to tell that special someone you love them and make sure he/she really knows you mean it. And if not tomorrow, than next week, next month or any and multiple times out of the year. Everyone likes to know they are loved so scream it from the roof tops, I know I will. Tomorrow I will wake up and scream "I LOVE YOU" so that Derek knows just how much I love him. I try to show him throughout the year, but just incase he missed the memo, tomorrow I will make sure he hears it loud and clear. I hope you all will do the same.
And from me to you...Happy Valentine's Day! You are special and you are loved.
