The little white ball

Who invented golf? Can someone tell me that? And when I find that person, if he/she is not already dead, I will kill them myself.

Okay, I won't but I would like to ask them what possessed them to think a game of hitting a little white ball from various lengths and in various heights of grass, or weeds, or woods, would EVER be considered fun???

Yesterday, I played my second round of 18 wholes this summer (and third round ever) and let me tell you, it was anything but fun. I usually hit the ball to the right (is that a slice or hook...I don't know) so I aim left. Well, I seem to be figuring something out in my swing b/c now I can sometimes hit it straight. Do you know what stress that causes me? I use to always know to line up left for it to be in the fairway, now it goes left and I end up in the woods, or the rough or the water. Great.

Then I finally get close to the green and try to chip it on. Next thing you know I am on the other side of the green trying to chip it on from the other side. Ugh. Then comes the putting. Who puts a hole at the top of a hill so you either have to rocket it up there to get close or barely touch the thing for it to roll 20 ft to the bottom of the hill, only to repeat said events 6 times. Can we say Happy Gilmore anyone...just tap it in, tappity tap tap?

I will keep trying to play this game, maybe I am a glutten for punishment but I can't help it. Just don't expect me to have "fun." I will play mini-golf for that.

You can email me if you want to know my final score, it is just to embarrassing to post for all to see.
